La Morena - Washed

Our Guatemala single origin comes from the wonderful women at "La Morena" in Huehuetenango. This is a smooth, well rounded medium roasted coffee. A solid staple for all brewing methods. We taste notes of dark chocolate, fig, red currant, black tea and vanilla.

In 2016, the La Morena program was created to give female coffee growers access to the global supply chain. The program started off small, a micro-lot by all accounts, but quickly sold out. The growers enjoyed success from that introduction to the market and their coffees became highly sought after. Fast forward to 2024, the program now works with over 800 women farmers spanning the regions of Huehuetenango and Baja Verapaz.
